The opening lines are out for Week 3 of the college football season, and after being installed as heavy favorites last week against UMass, the Eagles are back in the more familiar position of being the underdog this weekend. Per lines posted at ESPN.com, BC is a 6.5 point underdog for Saturday afternoon’s clash at Lane Stadium against Virginia Tech.
The Hokies are 1-1 this season, and 0-2 against the spread. They defeated Liberty 36-13 in a game they were favored in by 32, then got beaten down by Tennessee 45-24 this past weekend as 11-point ‘dogs.
Boston College is now 2-0 against the spread this season. BC’s narrow loss to Georgia Tech was within the 3.5 spread; the Eagles then covered the somewhat maligned 16-point spread against UMass fairly easily.
Lane Stadium is the site of BC’s most recent road conference win; the Eagles topped the Hokies 33-31 in a thriller at Lane Stadium on Nov. 1, 2014. We’ll see if the Eagles can rekindle some of that magic and pick up a huge win this coming weekend.
