Boston College volleyball opened up its season this past weekend with three games at home, starting the season 2-1. BC topped LIU-Brooklyn twice and fell to Fresno State in the weekend finale.

In their season opener on Friday afternoon, the Eagles handled LIU-Brooklyn, winning three sets to one. After splitting the first two sets, BC blew LIU-Brooklyn away in the final two, winning 25-17 and 25-19.

Sol Calvette led the way for the Eagles with 13 kills in the season opener, while McKenna Goss was also in double digits with 10.

BC made even easier work of LIU-Brooklyn on Saturday, sweeping all three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-14. 6'3'' Senior Julia Topor led the Eagles with 15 kills in the match, while freshman Jane DeJarld made her mark with a team-leading 34 assists.

The Eagles were unable to finish off the weekend sweep, however, falling to Fresno State in straight sets in Saturday’s night cap. BC came close on several occasions but couldn’t close the deal, losing 25-21, 26-24 and 25-22. DeJarld continued to impress with 13 assists despite the loss.

The Eagles take it back to the Power Gym this weekend in the upcoming "Beantown Challenge," facing Georgia on Friday night and UNH on Saturday night. Admission is free for all home games.
