With both Boston College and Georgia Tech coming off difficult seasons last year, both will be looking to Saturday’s game in Dublin as a potential launching pad to a better season. Both squads have hopes and expectations for improvement over last year’s performance, so it’s hard to say one side is heavily favored over the other.

The gambling odds reflect this, with the consensus being that Georgia Tech is a slight favorite, with most books installing them -3.5 per VegasInsider.com. There are a few books that have Georgia Tech -3.

BC was 5-6-1 against the spread last year. The Eagles' losses to duke, Clemson, Louisville and Notre Dame were narrower than Vegas predicted. Some consolation, I guess, if for some reason you felt compelled to put money on BC last season.

Additionally, the Eagles were 0-7 in games where Vegas had them as underdogs. BC’s last win as an underdog game on November 1, 2014, when they topped Virginia Tech at Lane Stadium.

The over/under for the game is set at 44. Each of BC’s last 5 games last year fell under that total mark.
