#23 Boston College women’s soccer (1-0-1)
vs. Stony Brook (0-1-1)
Thursday, 7 PM
Newton Campus Soccer Field

All things considered, the Boston College women’s soccer team had a successful opening weekend. They went 1-0-1, looked consistently dangerous on offense, and made enough of an impression that they moved in to the Top 25, ranked #23 this week by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

The Eagles have several freshmen who look ready to be a big part of the team’s attack this fall. Jenna Bike and Kayla Jennings in particular stood out, each scoring against Providence and looking dangerous in Sunday’s draw against Arizona State.

Tonight, BC returns to Newton Campus Soccer Field with a midweek clash against Stony Brook, as they look to put another win under their belt before Sunday night’s rivalry game against BU.

The Eagles are 7-0 all time against Stony Brook. The Seawolves come in to this matchup 0-1-1 after opening weekend following a pair of overtime games. They lost 1-0 in double OT to Bryant, then followed that up with a tie against Sacred Heart.

Last year, Stony Brook went 6-9-3 and 0-4-1 on the road. They haven’t faced an ACC team in four years, since they made the NCAA tournament and lost in the opening round to Maryland in 2-0.

All this is a way of saying that BC should be once again looking to control possession, the way they did comfortably against both Providence and Arizona State. Unlike on Sunday, however, BC will be looking to get their shots on target and convert possession in to goals - and convert goals in to another win.
