Malachi Moore, a former defensive end for the Boston College Eagles was looking to find a new home this season with Chris Ash and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. All signs pointed to this being a great fit for the graduate transfer, until news broke yesterday on NJ.com that Moore would not be continuing his pursuit of football:

According to the report Moore was medically disqualified due to a pre-existing medical condition. There was no specification on what that condition was. Rutgers head coach and former Ohio State coordinator Chris Ash spoke about the situation:

"Between his family, himself and the doctors, they made a decision that it was for the best that he doesn't continue to play football," Ash said. "Thankfully, he's got a degree already. Very intelligent kid, high-character kid, and he's ready to go on to the next chapter of his life in the real world. Wish him nothing but the best."

Moore missed the entire 2013 season at BC with blood clots in his legs. 2014 was a big year for Moore as he racked up 4 sacks along with 6 tackles for loss, as he played the entire season. He played for BC last year, but had a limited role, only logging a handful of tackles. After the season ended he decided to move on to Rutgers, but hit this medical roadblock.

Best of luck in the future Malachi.
