After going winless in the ACC a year ago, Boston College will be expected to be better in 2016, according to the media. In the annual preseason poll, the voting scribes picked the Eagles fifth in their division with 441 votes in 2016.

The Eagles placed slightly ahead of Syracuse in the Atlantic Division with Wake Forest picked to finish last. Ahead of BC is a wide, 263-point margin to fourth-place NC State, with a cluster at the top of the division among Clemson, Florida State, and Louisville.

Clemson is the heavy favorite to win the ACC, collecting 148 first place votes in the Atlantic Division and 144 championship votes overall. Florida STate had 42 first place votes in the division and 39 championship votes to come in second, indicating another year of strength in the Atlantic.

A more wide open tale developed in the Coastal Division, where six of the seven teams received at least one first place vote. North Carolina led the division with 121 first place votes, narrowly edging Miami (50) for the division title. Pitt received 14 first place votes, with Virginia Tech, Duke, and Georgia Tech received three, two, and respectively.
