Boston College football received a new commitment on Monday, as San Diego QB/DB Tate Haynes verbally pledged to the Eagles (per his Twitter account):

The 6’1 170lbs Haynes, who plays at Cathedral in California along with fellow BC commit tight end Patrick Brown. Tate currently doesn’t have a rating on Rivals, and is considered a dual threat QB on the site, but as he said he is playing DB for the Eagles. Boston College already has EJ Perry IV and Austin Burton committed to play quarterback in this class.
Haynes who also has offers from New Mexico and BYU (to play DB as well), comes from some good genetics. His father Mike Haynes is an NFL hall of famer who played with the Patriots and Raiders, and is considered by many to be the greatest defensive back of all time.
BC’s scholarship situation is getting tighter, so there may not be many more commitments for this class, but certainly Tate Haynes seems like a worthwhile grab. Welcome to the Heights Tate!
