A season with many high-profile lows has come to an end, but there were also some positive moments and accomplishments to celebrate as well. Over the next few weeks, we’ll reflect on the good and the bad of the 2015-16 Boston College Athletics season with the BCI Awards and the annual GIF of the Year tournament.

There was, quite frankly, not much to choose from this year in the “most exciting game of the year” category. Certainly, nothing from the football or basketball season was worth considering. The women’s hoops team had an exciting win over Purdue and obviously the baseball team won a series of thrillers. But looking back, there was one hair-raising game this past season that goes in to pantheon of great BC contests.

In one of the most exciting Beanpot finals in recent memory, Boston College and Boston University traded chance after chance, with both goalies standing on their head to keep the game tied 0-0 through regulation. The game also lasted through a 30+ minute delay due to a power outage in the first period, which came right after BC put intense pressure on the BU net.

Unfortunately, nobody’s made a comprehensive highlight video of this game (I’ll have to get on that, since it’s still sitting on my DVR). But here’s Alex Tuch’s winner:

The win handed BC its 6th Beanpot title in 7 years, and extended their unbeaten streak against BU at the Beanpot to a remarkable ten years (11, once February comes along).
