The Dudes Strike Back 2016: Better Know #96 DT Ray Smith

He started to contribute in 2015, what will his role be this year?

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Ray Smith

Position: Defensive Lineman

Number: #96

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6-foot-1

Weight: 264 lbs.

Hometown: Carlsbad, CA

High School: Cathedral Catholic

2015 Stats: Played in five games for the Eagles last season, tallied four tackles against Howard and one against Duke.

2016 Projections: With the loss of Connor Wujciak, BC is going to desperately need some depth at the defensive tackle position, and Smith is primed to be that person. A little on the smaller side according to his current BCEagles profile, he is going to need to beef up. Most likely he already has, it's just not reflected on the site yet. I expect that Ray Smith will see a lot of action this fall, and be a name that Eagles fans learn pretty quickly.

How'd He Get Here: Smith came to BC as a 3* recruit with offers from San Diego State, Navy, Bucknell and Air Force. (He also has a great Rivals pic)

Uniform History: #96 hasn't been a very popular number in the history of the Eagles Peter Gray, a four year player in the mid 80's wore it. 2004 Captain and fellow defensive lineman Tim Bulman wore it.

If I missed a player, I assure you it wasn't on purpose, kindly leave the name in the comments and I'll add it!
