Hasselbeck was with the Eagles from 1994-1997 where he threw for 4548 yards, 22 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. He started his final two seasons at the Heights. In '98 he was selected by Mike Sherman and the Green Bay Packers
According to the coach the choice was easy
"When Matt came in as a sixth-round pick for us, he took over the scout team and players immediately responded to him," Packers coach Mike Sherman said. "It was really something. You don't see a young player come in and take over like he took over.
"He wasn't Brett Favre leading our team, necessarily, but he led the part of the team he needed to lead. It was very obvious."
But it was with the Seattle Seahawks that Matt Hasselbeck cemented his legacy. In 2003 he threw for 3,841 yards along with 26 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. In 2005 he made the Super Bowl, before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He finished his career as a backup, both in Tennessee and Indianapolis. But this season he got to go out as a starter, after the injury to Andrew Luck. His final season in the NFL he threw for 1690 yards, 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
He finished his career throwing for 36,638 yards, 212 touchdowns and 153 interceptions, and three Pro Bowls. Also in Hasselbeck news, Matt will be joining ESPN NFL Countdown taking the spot vacated by Mike Ditka.
Congratulations on a tremendous career Matt. #SOAR
