Eagles in the Pros 11/28-12/4: Johnny Gaudreau Returns to the Flames

Featuring the return of Johnny Gaudreau, GWGs from Ryan Shannon and Dave Spina, and Miles Woods’ first NHL goal

This week I’m trying a new format based on players instead of on dates. Fun!

NHL

Cam Atkinson (Columbus Blue Jackets): Atkinson recorded 10 SOG last week but was unable to find the back of the net. He did pick up a helper though.

Brian Boyle (Tampa Bay Lightning): Boyle recorded an assist in Tampa’s 4-3 loss to the Blues.

Paul Carey (Washington Capitals): Carey played in 1 game for the Caps last week before being recalled to Hershey yesterday.

Brian Dumoulin (Pittsburgh Penguins): Dumoulin recorded an assist in Pittsburgh’s loss to the Islanders last week.

Patrick Eaves (Dallas Stars): Eaves, who is continuing to have one of the best years of his career, picked up a goal and an assist last week. He scored the final goal of the game on an empty net in Dallas’ 3-0 win over Colorado.

Brian Gionta (Buffalo Sabres): Gionta scored a goal and recorded an assist in Buffalo’s win over the Rangers. Gionta set himself up in a great position to take a feed from behind the net and tip the puck in, tying the game for the Rangers.

Johnny Gaudreau (Calgary Flames): Gaudreau returned to the Flames lineup earlier than expected post-finger surgery. He then scored on his first shot back. Classic Johnny Hockey. He also picked up an assist in the 8-3 win over Anaheim.

Noah Hanifin (Carolina Hurricanes): Hanifin scored the first goal of the game in Carolina’s loss to Boston with a powerful slapshot.

Jimmy Hayes (Boston Bruins): Hayes played in 2 of Boston’s 3 games last week, seeing under 10 minutes of ice time in both. he recorded 2 hits and 2 SOG.

Kevin Hayes (New York Rangers): Hayes didn’t put up any points last week but he had 7 SOG and 8 hits.

Chris Kreider (New York Rangers): Kreider scored 2 goals in NY’s win over Carolina, including the game-winner off of a rebound.

Mike Matheson (Florida Panthers): Matheson continues to average around 20 minutes of ice time per game and to pick up a couple SOG every match.

Brooks Orpik (Washington Capitals): Orpik had 4 SOG and 4 hits over 2 games last week.

Cory Schneider (New Jersey Devils): Schneider made 26 saves in NJ’s loss to Winnipeg and 29 saves in the loss to Chicago.

Ben Smith (Toronto Maple Leafs): Smith had a solid defensive week, recording 7 blocked shots.

Miles Wood (New Jersey Devils): Wood scored his first career NHL goal last week in a NJ loss to Winnipeg.

AHL

Patrick Brown (Charlotte Checkers): Brown had the only assist on the Checkers’ first goal in their 4-2 loss to Stockton.

Tommy Cross (Providence Bruins): Cross played in 2 of Providence’s 3 games last week.

Thatcher Demko (Utica Comets): Demko has started playing much better after a rough start to the season. He started all 3 games for Utica this week, earning 2 wins and 1 loss. He made 24 and 29 saves in the wins and 34 saves in a 2-1 loss to Rochester.

Brian Gibbons (Albany Devils): Gibbons recorded 2 assists last week.

Adam Gilmour (Iowa Wild): Gilmour scored his 3rd goal of the season in Iowa’s 4-2 loss to Chicago.

Stephen Gionta (Bridgeport Sound Tigers): Gionta returned to the ice for the first time this season due to injury.

Ian McCoshen (Springfield Thunderbirds): McCoshen picked up an assist on Springfield’s first goal in a victory over Providence.

John Muse (Rochester Americans): Muse did not play last week.

Philip Samuelsson (St. John’s Ice Caps): Samuelsson played in 2 of his team’s 5 games last week.

Zach Sanford (Hershey Bears): Sanford had 9 shots on goal in 3 games for the Bears last week and scored 1 goal.

Steve Santini (Albany Devils): Santini played in 1 of Albany’s 4 games last week.

Rob Scuderi (Ontario Reign): Scuderi played in 1 game for Ontario last week.

Alex Tuch (Iowa Wild): Tuch picked up 1 assist last week. He recorded 0 SOG in Iowa’s 2 games.

Joe Whitney (San Antonio Rampage): Whitney scored in both regulation and in the shootout in San Antonio’s shootout win over San Jose.

ECHL

Patch Alber (Adirondack Thunder): Alber had 1 assist and 10 shots over 3 games last week.

Teddy Doherty (Manchester Monarchs): Doherty assisted on Manchester’s first and last goals in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Kalamazoo.

Parker Milner (South Carolina Stingrays): Milner made 23 saves in SC’s loss to Greenville on Friday and 25 saves in a victory over the Swamp Rabbits on Sunday.

NWHL

Lexi Bender (Boston Pride): Bender had 1 SOG and a +1 across last weekend’s games.

Blake Bolden (Boston Pride): Bolden had 2 SOG and 2 PIM in Boston’s two wins.

Alex Carpenter (Boston Pride): Carpenter recorded 2 points over the weekend - 1 goal and 1 assist.

Emily Field (Boston Pride): Field scored Boston’s second goal to help the Pride defeat Connecticut 5-2.

Kaliya Johnson (Connecticut Whale): Johnson had a +1 in CT’s loss to Boston.

Meagan Mangene (Connecticut Whale): Mangene had a rough game against Boston, recording a -3 and 2 PIM.

Emily Pfalzer (Buffalo Beauts): Pfalzer scored 1 goal and had a +4 in Buffalo’s victory over the Riveters.

Haley Skarupa (Connecticut Whale): Skarupa had 4 SOGs in Connecticut’s loss to Boston but was unable to find the back of the net.

Kelli Stack (Connecticut Whale): Stack scored the second of Connecticut’s 2 goals (unassisted) in the loss to Boston,

Dana Trivigno (Connecticut Whale): Trivigno scored the first goal of the game in the Whale’s loss to Boston.

CWHL

Melissa Bizzari, Kristina Brown, Dru Burns, Meghan Grieves, Erin Kickham, Kate Leary (Boston Blades): The Blades continue to struggle this season. They lost both of their games last week, falling to Montreal by scores of 5-0 and 10-0.

Europe

Barry Almeida (Coventry Blaze): Barry Almeida scored 1 goal last week. He also picked up an assist in both of Coventry’s games.

Nathan Gerbe (Geneve-Servette HC): Assuming my translation is correct, Gerbe did not play last week due to injury.

Tim Kunes (Stavanger Oilers): Kunes continues to impress with the Oilers. He picked up 3 assists last week, which is a solid number for a defender.

Pat Mullane (HC Karlovy Vary): Mullane recorded an assist last week in his team’s loss to Pirati Chomutov.

Ryan Shannon (ZSC Lions): Shannon had a terrific week last week, scoring in each of ZSC’s 3 games. His 3 goals included the game-winner against Nathan Gerbe’s Geneve-Servette.

Dave Spina (TPS): Spina scored the game-winner in his team’s victory over Jukurit last week. He also picked up an assist in his team’s loss to Kalpa.

Cam Spiro (Gentofte): Spiro has 15 points in 18 games this season.

SPHL

Brad Barone (Mississippi River Kings): Barone made 33 saves in a 2-1 loss at Pensacola last week. He has been impressive for the River Kings this season.

Brian Billett (Knoxville Ice Bears): Billett started in net in both of Knoxille’s games last week. He made 32 saves in an OT loss to Evansville and 17 saves in a 3-0 loss to the same team the following day.

Travis Jeke (Knoxville Ice Bears): Jeke recorded 2 assists in Knoxville’s overtime loss to Evansville last week.
