Quick Lane Bowl: Monday Morning Notes

Interesting comments from around the internet.

NCAA Football: Boston College at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

"We are excited to continue our season and play in the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit,” said Boston College Director of Athletics Brad Bates. “This is great opportunity for our program to continue to develop and gives our players one final opportunity to play together to close out the season."

Close Competitors

It is eerie to look at these two schools and realize how close they are in a lot of categories. Record wise, and the way they won, they are almost identical. Wins against lesser opponents, while getting their doors blown off by better schools. In fact Ralph Russo tweeted out yesterday that neither school beat a team with a winning record this season. If you look at their F&P ratings, they are separated by one, with Maryland coming in at 76 and Boston College coming in at 77.

First Predictions

This morning ESPN gave their opening prediction for the Quick Lane Bowl, and they have the Eagles winning it:

“Quick Lane Bowl: Maryland vs. Boston College(2:30 p.m., ESPN, Ford Field, Detroit, Mich.)Maryland and BC are Nos. 75 and 76 in FPI, just above 3-9 Arizona, and both struggled mightily against the elite of their respected conferences. It comes down to which squad makes the most strides during bowl preparation. Boston College gets it done in Motown. Boston College 24, Maryland 21.”

Is This Going to Be A Watchable Game?

According to Jason Kirk of SBNation, this is not, he has the Quick Lane Bowl game listed as “This is a football game”, the third level and lowest of rating, below Watch This and Maybe Watch This.
