Former BC star running back Andre Williams is getting another crack at the NFL. The San Diego Chargers announced on Tuesday that running back Kenneth Farrow would go on the IR, marking the 5th Chargers running back to land on IR this season. With Ronnie Hilman as the only healthy back on the active roster the Chargers promoted Williams from the practice squad and he will be active for the season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Williams last appeared in NFL action in 2015 with the New York Giants and finished with 257 yards on 16 carries. Williams’ best season came in 2014 when he had 721 yards rushing to go along with 7 touchdowns. Unfortunately for Williams he was never able to transition his punishing style of running from the college level to the pro game as with evident by his career 3.2 yards per carry.
Here’s hoping that the year off from NFL live game punishment helps rejuvenate Williams into the back he was at the Heights.
