The Boston College women’s basketball team ended the first half of the season on a strong note, defeating Dartmouth by a score of 65-53 to win their 4th game in a row. BC is now 6-6 on the season as they head into conference play.
The Eagles were without star player Mariella Fasoula for today’s game - she was on the sidelines with an apparent foot injury. However, the team was able to step up in her absence and pull of a win.
Kailey Hughes led the team with a career high 16 points and 6 rebounds and Kelly Hughes contributed another 14 points and 6 rebounds for BC.
Freshmen Georgia Pineau and Emma Guy both continued to impress in this morning’s game as well. Guy recorded 10 points, which was a significant help in making up for the lack of Fasoula’s offense. Pineau is generally strongest defensively (she had 10 rebounds and 2 blocks today), but she also scored two huge baskets to help BC regain the lead against Dartmouth.
BC dominated in the first and last quarters, but struggled a bit during the middle of the game. They will need to work on keeping any leads they manage to get as they head into the tough part of the season.
Women’s basketball returns to action on December 30th at 2 PM to take on Maine at Conte.
