Women’s Basketball Earns Third Straight Win

The Eagles dominated Central Connecticut State to earn a 66-46 victory

NCAA Womens Basketball: Notre Dame at Boston College Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles earned their third win in a row in a victory over Central Connecticut State tonight, bringing their record to 5-6. Although there were still significant issues in terms of turnovers and sloppy play, BC dominated the game. In looking at this win, it is important to note that the Eagles were up by 30 points and the end of the third quarter, before playing a lineup of mostly freshmen and players from the bench for the fourth quarter.

As usual, Mariella Fasoula, Kelly Hughes, and Emilee Daley were the key players in BC’s victory. Fasoula led the team with 14 points and 6 rebounds, while Kelly Hughes recorded 10 points. Emilee Daley had 5 rebounds and 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers - one of which was a buzzer-beater at the end of the first half. Freshman Shannon Ryan, who played in the fourth quarter, scored her first collegiate basket tonight for BC.

The Eagles looked their best in the third quarter, managing to get control of some of the bad passing they were doing in the first half, and they likely would have won by a much larger margin had the starters continued to play in the fourth.

BC will play again this coming Tuesday at 11 AM when they take on Dartmouth at Conte. (Yes, Tuesday at 11 AM.)
