As the NFL season reaches the halfway point, ESPN’s site fivethirtyeight.com released its midseason awards. The midseason MVP was none other than Atlanta Falcons quarterback, and Boston College alumnus Matt Ryan.
Here’s what FiveThirtyEight had to say about Ryan:
Ryan’s Falcons are 6-3 on the year and atop the NFC South division. Currently, the ninth year quarterback has a passer rating of 119.0. If the rating holds, the rating will be his highest passer rating in his career.
In addition, Ryan’s 23 passing touchdowns thus far is approaching his career single-season touchdown high, 32, which he set in 2012.
Ryan played for four years with Boston College, entering the university in 2003 and redshirting his first year. He finished his career with an average 126.2 passer rating.
Matt Ryan will have jersey retired on Nov. 19 when the Eagles take on UConn at 1 PM at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill.
