The Boston College field hockey team lost to Virginia in the ACC quarterfinals earlier today. Virginia had a slight edge in shots and ended up beating BC by 3 goals.
The Eagles got the scoring started at 11:08 with Brittany Sheenan's 11th goal of the season. The Eagles almost went up 2-0, but the goal was called off because the shot was too high.
UVA tied the game 21 minutes in, but BC regained the lead 3 minutes later off a penalty corner.
Virginia scored twice in a row to go up 3-2 before Frederique Haverhals scored her second goal of the game to tie it. The teams went into the half knotted at 3.
Unfortunately, the Eagles were unable to find the back of the net in the 2nd half and Virginia ran away with the game to win 6-3.
The Eagles are now is 7-12 all-time against Virginia. With this loss, BC fell to 1-12 in ACC tournament play.
BC will now have to wait until Sunday night to find out if they have made the NCAA tournament.
