Eagles Fall to SMU Despite 21 Points from Kelly Hughes

BC will play St. Francis tomorrow in the Omni Hotels Classic consolation game.

The struggles continued for BC women's basketball tonight as they lost to SMU in the first round of the Omni Hotels Classic. The Eagles lost by a score of 72-64, and Kelly Hughes scored 21 of BC's points.

As they have in most games this season, BC was able to cut the lead at points before allowing the opposing team to go on big offensive runs. The Eagles did not lead at any point in tonight's game, but they did get within 2 points of SMU.

The Eagles continue to struggle with accuracy and they hit only 36% of their attempted field goals and 30% of their attempted 3 pointers tonight. BC did look better from the free throw line than they have previously this season, but this team still has a lot of work to do.

In addition to Hughes' 21 points, Mariella Fasoula scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Marti Mosetti made her first start tonight and both Kailey Edwards (sr.) and Jasmine Taylor (fr.) made their season debuts.

BC will play St. Francis tomorrow in the Omni Hotels Classic consolation game at 3:30 PM.
