Alex Newhook announced on Twitter yesterday that he has committed to Boston College. Newhook is a 5'11" forward from St. John's, Canada. He will be eligible for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Newhook currently plays for and captains the York Simcoe Express Minor Midget AAA team. He played for Team Newfoundland U14 in 2014-15, where he scored 5 goals in 5 games and also recorded an assist. In 2015-16 he played for Pro Hockey Selects U15 and picked up 5 goals and 5 assists in 7 games.

Newhook's name has been thrown around as a player to watch in the OHL and QMJHL drafts, so while there is not a ton of info out there about him, he does appear to be a skilled player.

Although Newhook has verbally committed to BC, he is a young, Canadian player, so fans should look out for the chance that he might instead choose to go the route of a Canadian juniors team.
