END OF 1: Clemson Leads Boston College 21-3

Things started well for the Eagles... And then the rest of the quarter happened.

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

Things started well for Boston College, as the Eagles forced a three-and-out on Clemson's first drive, then John Johnson recovered a punt muffed by the Tigers' Ray-Ray McCloud (pictured) before Clemson could get back on the field for its second possession.

But BC would only get three on that drive, and Clemson would own the rest of the quarter, scoring on a 59-yard run by Wayne Gallaman, then benefiting from two beautiful catches by receiver Mike Williams. First, Williams hauled in a 50-yard bomb with a diving effort. Then, moments later, he leaped up and grabbed a 9-yard score on a fade route.

The Tigers would strike again on their next drive, as quarterback Deshaun Watson hit tight end Jordan Leggett off play action. Leggett was wide open down the seam, then broke free to take it 56 yards for a touchdown.

Can the Eagles fight their way back into this one? We'll see when play resumes.
