Women's Basketball Incoming Class Includes 2 Top Australian Recruits

Georgia Pineau and Taylor Ortlepp could see significant playing time as BC looks to improve their ACC record.

As BC looks to improve on a season in which they went 15-16 overall but  2-14 in ACC play the Eagles are starting to rely on recruits from outside the US. In addition to players from Italy, Greece, and Nigeria, BC will have two highly touted Australians on their team this season.

Georgia Pineau and Taylor Ortlepp are among the top 5 Australian freshmen in the NCAA this season.  Ortlepp and Pineau were teammates on the 2014 FIBA Under 17 World Championship team.

Ortlepp plays both point- and off-guard and Coach Johnson has suggested that she will see decent playing time this season. Ortlepp was the captain of her 2016 U20 Women's Australian Junior Championships team and averaged 13.86 points per game. She was South Australia's top scorer during the championships. Ortlepp is known for her scoring ability but is also a solid defensive player.

Pineau is known as a power forward but she has been working on her versatility recently, which will improve her chances of seeing playing time. Pineau played for the 2016 Victoria Navy Under 20s national championship team and averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds a game.

The Eagles open their season November 11 at Hartford. They return to Conte on November 14th to take on BU.
