The Eagles closed out the women's soccer season last night with an OT win over Syracuse. The Eagles out-shot Syracuse 13 SOG to 4 SOG.
The Eagles struck first with a goal from Andrea O'Brien at the 16 minute mark. The game remained 1-0 until 45:34, when Syracuse tied it on a direct shot. The match ended up going into overtime and freshman Olivia Vaughn scored her first game-winner to give BC the win. Gaby Carreiro assisted on both BC goals and ends the season with a team leading 8 assists.
Prior to the match, BC honored the 5 seniors on the team: Rosie DiMartino, Hayley Dowd, Meghan MacDonald, McKenzie Meehan, and Andrea O'Brien. The senior class had a 43-28-6 overall record and made it to 2 NCAA tournaments and 1 Elite Eight (2013). McKenzie Meehan (who did not play last night due to injury) leaves BC as the program's all-time leader in goals (58), points (124) and game-winning-goals (18). Lauren Dowd graduates as the 2nd all-time leading goal scorer in program history with 39 goals.
BC closes out the year with an 11-7-1 record overall and a 3-7-0 ACC record.
