SDSU Names John David Wicker as New AD

After lots of rumors that Brad Bates would be leaving BC for San Diego State and a denial from Bates himself, SDSU has named John David Wicker as their new AD. Wicker was the Senior Associate AD at SDSU from 2011-2015 and has spent the last year as the Senior Associate AD of Operations at Georgia Tech.

Wicker's hiring puts an end to the speculation that Brad Bates would be leaving the Heights for San Diego. Bates is in the final year of his contract and the general consensus is that he will not return to Boston College. Many fans have called for Bates to be fired due to his inability to hire coaches that could turn the football and basketball programs around. Others have continued to defend Bates, maintaining that the hires he made looked good based on the information he had at the time. Regardless of which you believe and despite the fact that Bates didn't get the San Diego job, it seems almost certain that BC will be searching for a new AD in the near future.
