FINAL: Syracuse Tops Boston College 28-20

The Eagles couldn't take advantage of several Syracuse miscues in a homecoming defeat.

The Eagles had their chances, but just couldn't cash enough in as they fell to rival Syracuse 28-20 inside Alumni Stadium Saturday.

Boston College (3-4, 0-4 ACC) actually had 1st and 10 at the Syracuse 14-yard line with two minutes to play, but an 11-yard sack of backup quarterback Darius Wade put the Eagles well behind the sticks. Moments later, a stiff Wade pass bounced off the fingertips of receiver Charlie Callinan, giving the ball back to Syracuse (4-4, 2-2 ACC) on downs.

The Orange then picked up a first down on a run from quarterback Eric Dungey to milk the clock.

It was a disappointing end to an afternoon where the Eagles managed to hang in the game, thanks to an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Myles Willis, a surprising 75-yard touchdown run by quarterback Patrick Towles, and three Syracuse turnovers.

Now below .500, BC's bowl hopes are on life support as they head to NC State next week.
