BC women's hockey alumna and Connecticut Whale star Kelli Stack has announced that she will be donating 100% of the proceeds from sales of her jerseys/shirts to Sochi Dogs Extraordinary Strays. Stack rescued her dog, Shayba, from Sochi Dogs during the Sochi Olympics and has continued to support the organization since returning to the US.
Stack was one of the league's star players last season. She returns to the Whale after playing for them during the inaugural NWHL season. Last year she led the team in both points (22) and assists (14).
Sochi Dogs is a non-profit that works to end overpopulation of stray dogs in Sochi through education, spay/neuter services, and adoption. The organization was founded in late 2014 and adopts out more than 65 dogs a year, while also sterilizing over 100 unadoptable street dogs each year.
