Boston College has finally announced their replacement for Don Brown, the defensive coordinator who accepted a job with Michigan late in 2015. Iowa linebackers coach Jim Reid was officially named the new defensive coordinator for the upcoming 2016 season.
Reid has experience at the Heights, leading BC's elite 1994 defense on their way to an Aloha Bowl. Reid then spent time between a variety of NFL and college programs which are listed below. Most recently: Reid was the linebackers coach on one of the best defenses in the country, helping Iowa on a 12-0 regular season record, before two straight losses to Michigan State and Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
Reid spoke to BCEagles.com today and had this to say
"First, I would like to thank Kirk Ferentz for the opportunity to work at Iowa; it was an honor to work with so many great players, fans and staff. I have great confidence in Steve Addazio's leadership and the direction his program is headed," Reid said. "Boston College is a very special place; I know this because I worked there in 1994 around some dedicated, wonderful people in a very close-knit Jesuit community. BC develops great young people and is just a tremendous institution."There is still work to do be done on the hiring front, as BC will still need to hire a secondary and special teams coach. Also there have been rumors floating about a possible new offensive coordinator as well. Welcome to the Heights Coach Reid!
