Three Stars Goes #ThrowbackThursday

With not much to choose from on campus, we dip in to history

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

The only two events on this past week's BC sports calendar didn't provide too much to cheer for. The women's basketball team got routed in their ACC opener, and the men's basketball team got predictably trounced by Duke. So for this week's three stars voting we got a little creative and dipped in to the past.

#1 Star: Johnny Gaudreau

The diminutive former BC star—who, it should always be noted, had 100+ people drafted in the NHL Draft before him—had a great month of December. For it, he was rewarded with the NHL's #1 star of the month award. Not bad. We'll probably be seeing him in the upcoming All Star game as well, which will be played 3-on-3—likely to give Gaudreau a great opportunity to demonstrate his skills.

#2 Star: Tom Coughlin

The former BC head coach stepped away from the New York Giants this week after a long and successful tenure there. TC's future remains to be seen, but no matter what happens next, Coughlin is a legend both at BC and in the game of football generally.

#3 Eli Carter

Carter led the Eagles in scoring against Duke, scoring 19 points and adding 5 assists.
