World Junior Championship Semifinal: USA vs. Russia Game Thread (1:00 PM, NHL Network)

Two wins to gold for the US and Russia

After laying a smackdown on the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, the US faces a familiar foe in the semis: Russia. The Russians have bounced the US from this tournament two years in a row, so the Americans will be looking for a measure of revenge in addition to a spot in the gold medal game. Colin White was held without a point against the Czechs, just the second time this tournament he hasn't scored (the other being the US's 1-0 loss to Sweden in game two of the round robin).

The Americans will play for a medal on Tuesday one way or the other, but they'll be hoping for a chance to play for gold. The winner of USA vs. Russia takes on the winner of Sweden vs. Finland in Tuesday's gold medal game, scheduled for 1:30 PM ET on NHL Network.

United States (4-1-0, 2nd place in Group A; defeated Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, 7-0)

vs.

Russia (4-0-1, 1st place in Group B; defeated Denmark in the quarterfinals, 4-3 in OT)

Game Time:
1 PM Eastern Time (8 PM Helsinki Time)
TV Information: The game will be broadcast live on NHL Network. Steve Mears, Dave Starman and Jill Savage will be on the call.
