Boston College Football: Scooter Harrington Decommits, Pledges To Stanford

Things are starting to look bleak.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Boston College football got another piece of bad news this weekend as tight end commit Scooter Harrington committed to Stanford.

This is bad, real bad. Harrington was one of BC's top rated recruits according to Rivals, and just opened eyes at the Under Armour game. As we saw last year BC needed tight ends badly, and Harrington was going to be that guy, a threat with his hands who could be used as a receiver as well as a tight end. But you have to wonder if the way Addazio has been using TE's the past two years is catching up with him. Also given the struggles of the offense, you have to imagine that going to Stanford seemed like a more attractive option.

Harrington was a 3* tight end from Greenwich Connecticut, with offers from UConn, N.C. State, Rutgers, Virginia, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin.  He was also a legacy, as his father was captain of the team in '84 and '85 team. Just bad news all around.

On the other side of the coin, BC had a bunch of official visitors this weekend, as soon as I can lock down names we will let you know.
