On Friday night in Amherst, the Boston College Eagles smoked UMass 8-0 to give Jerry York the 1000th win of his storied career. In celebration of that achievement, Boston College athletics will host another "Jerry York Night" with a special ceremony prior to next Friday night's game against UNH at Kelley Rink. This will be the second special ceremony in recent years dedicated to Coach York's accomplishments; a similar night was held three years ago after York broke the NCAA all-time wins record.
While details are still being revealed about the forthcoming ceremony, but it's likely to include some special guests and giveaway items. Those looking for some commemorative #JY1K swag can already get this shirt from BCEagles.com.
In a potential preview of what's to come on February 5, BC athletics also released this video of many notable people congratulating York on reaching the milestone. Bill Belichick, Coach K, Mayor Marty Walsh (a BC alum), and several BC hockey alumni are among those asked to say a few words in honor of the greatest coach in college hockey history:
February 5 is sure to be a special night at BC - and an important one as well, as BC continues to push toward the postseason.
