Thank You, BCI Readers, For Our Biggest Year Ever

An appreciation of you, and a look back at the year that was on BCI

Football season is a little over two weeks away, and around here it feels a bit like ringing in the New Year. And so as is tradition at the end of one year and the start of another, it's time to reflect. During the slow period that is the summer, we've been taking a look at stats about our readership - where you come from geographically, what types of posts you enjoy, and other information that might be helpful in helping us better serve you as a place for BC information, entertainment, and community.

One thing that I am excited to share is that this past "academic year" - August 1, 2014 to July 31, 2015 - was our biggest in site history, with 4,723,168 visitors, narrowly edging out last year's record year. To put that in perspective, in the 2011-2012 season, we had 2,538,960 visitors. This is in spite of a relatively mellow year in BC sports, aside from the big USC win and the drama that surrounded every attempted extra point.

At a time when blogs are becoming "passe" and with most of the content and engagement moving to social media, you have remained loyal to BCI. We truly appreciate that, from the bottom of our hearts. This site is a labor of love and there's nothing we love more than providing a space for BC fans to come together and talk about all BC sports. While Eagles coverage may be hard to find in the "traditional Boston media," it's great that in 2015 we have so many places to talk BC, whether it be here, Eagle in Atlanta, Soaring to Glory, EagleAction or some of the other sites that create a vibrant BC sports community online. We've also gotten a chance to interact with many of you on Twitter and Facebook, and meet up with so many of you in person. It's the best thing about writing for this blog.

As I mentioned, we are hard at work analyzing what's worked and what hasn't worked to make sure that for the upcoming football season, we deliver a top notch experience to our esteemed readers. We think we have a coverage plan that you're going to enjoy, but as always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions. You can always find us on Twitter at @bcinterruption or shoot us an email at bcinterruption@gmail.com and one of us will be in touch.
