Better Know A Dude 2015: #77 OL Jon Baker

A local recruit that jumped into game time action in 2014, what could 2015 hold for him?

Name: Jon Baker

Position: Offensive lineman

Number: #77

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 293 lbs.

Hometown: Millis

High School: Millis

2014 Stats: Played in 10 games last season as Bobby Vardaro's primary backup at left guard. Played for most of the game against Colorado State.

2015 Projections: During the first spring scrimmage Baker played with the first team at right guard. He has some in game experience, which given the lack of it on the team, should be valuable. As long as he can stay healthy (he was hurt in the spring) I believe Baker will earn the starting job at guard.

How'd He Get Here: Jon Baker was the 26th overall ranked offensive guard in the 2014 class, and the #3 recruit in Massachusetts. He chose BC over Temple, UConn, Harvard, Holy Cross, UMass, Michigan State, Ohio, Old Dominion, Syracuse, and Yale.

Twitter Feed: Nope.

Uniform History: The first known varsity letter winner to wear the number was Mario Mazillo a tackle from 1952. Recently there has been a run of great linemen that have gone on to have NFL careers. The first was center Dan Koppen, who went on to play with the Patriots and is currently on the Denver Broncos roster. After Gosder Cherilus wore #77 before being drafted by the Detroit Lions and is currently on the Indianapolis Colts roster. Finally, Emmett Cleary recently wore the number before going undrafted, he is currently on the Oakland Raiders roster.
