Happy Friday, er'rybody! We made it through another week of the offseason. Once again, it wasn't a week that lacked for stories. Here's a look back at some top stories and things you may have missed:
Top Stories
1. You have chosen...BC: Boston College football picked up three new commitments for 2016 in the past seven days. Over the weekend, a 3* DE/TE, Ray Marten, chose BC over offers from Wisconsin and Rutgers. DT/TE Adam Korutz was next to join the party. Korutz is a 2* from NY with Syracuse and Northwestern offers. Last but not least 3* Georgia linebacker Max Richardson committed to BC as well.
2. Renewing a regional feud?: For the first time that I can recall, BC officials spoke positively about the possibility of playing UConn in football at some point in the future. We laid out our modest proposal for how a deal might look between the two schools.
3. Star-studded lineup set for charity alumni hockey game: Hockey alums Andrew Orpik and Pat Mullane have put together a star-studded lineup for the BC team in an upcoming alumni hockey game against BU to raise money for ALS research. Johnny Gaudreau, Chris Kreider, the Hayes Brothers, and BRIAN LEETCH highlight the BC roster. Good luck with that, Terriers.
4. Eagles in the MLB Draft: Unsurprisingly, Chris Shaw went early, drafted at #31 overall by the San Francisco Giants. But other Eagles heard their names called, too: Jeff Burke, Blake Butera, and John Gorman all were selected too.
Other items you may have missed:
-Eagle alum Alejandro Bedoya was named to the US Soccer provisional roster for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. Fellow BC soccer alum Laura Georges is part of the France Women's World Cup team, which beat England 1-0 in their opener.
-UConn coach Bob Diaco doesn't think the other team's participation is necessary in order to have a rivalry trophy.
-A BCI Reader, MattBC03, FOIA'd UMaine to find out the BC-Maine football contract details.
