It has been a busy day for Boston College graduates, as a third Eagle has found a home in the NFL. Defensive end Brian Mihalik was drafted this afternoon by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 7th round. He joins tackle Ian Silberman (49ers) and center Andy Gallik (Titans) as rookies in the NFL.
Mihalik is and has always has been an intriguing prospect due to his size, standing in at a monster 6'9. He was a three star recruit out of Ohio, and chose the Eagles over offers from Arizona, Louisville, West Virginia and Stanford. When he got to BC they slotted him in at defensive end where he played in 8 games as a freshman and record 1 solo tackle and 5 assisted tackles. He continued to improve over his time with the Eagles, culminating with a 31 tackle senior season, and leading the Eagles with 4.5 sacks.
Brian Mihalik will join former coaches Ryan Day and Bill McGovern with the Eagles. With his selection the Boston College Eagles have three players drafted, falling one short of the four they had drafted in 2013. Best of luck in the pros Brian!
