As Of Now, Beanpot On As Scheduled

No official word given, but TD Garden is hoping to get the games in tomorrow

Despite the snow emergency and parking bans in place in Boston tomorrow, there is a strong desire to get in the Beanpot tomorrow night. Due to conflicts with the Bruins (Tuesday), the Celtics (Wednesday), and Disney on Ice from Thursday and for the following few weeks, a cancellation would likely force the Beanpot consolation game and final back by a few weeks, with Monday, February 23 looking like a likely date.

Sources say there is a strong desire on TD Garden's end to play the games tomorrow as planned unless there is a particular hazard to the teams traveling to the game. While there are actually a couple of dates during Disney on Ice's run where there is no performance, the logistics of breaking down Disney on Ice's setup and preparing the Garden for a hockey game would be too much to accomplish in one day.

Maybe next year they should have a contingency date ready to go. But as of now, Snowpocalypse has not claimed the Beanpot.

Should the games go on as planned, #11 Boston College will face #15 Harvard in the consolation game at 4:30 PM. While the consolation is often not a very spirited affair, this one is very significant to both teams as they try to solidify their NCAA tournament position. Harvard is looking to snap a slide after three losses in one week, following up their Beanpot loss to BU with losses to Yale and Brown over the weekend.

The championship game, scheduled for 7:30 PM, features #2 Boston University and Northeastern. The resurgent Huskies are seeking their first Beanpot title since 1988.
