Boston College Hockey, Florida Hockey Classic: Final Thoughts and Predictions

The Eagles look to close out 2015 with a trophy.

The Eagles are looking to rebound from a tough loss to Notre Dame with a victory over Ohio State tonight. The Eagles will be missing Colin White, who is playing in the World Junior tournament right now, as they take on a struggling Ohio State team. The Eagles are used to missing players in December: last year's winter tournament saw the Eagles winning the Ledyard Classic on a strong performance from Brad Barone, who was filling in while Demko was at the World Juniors.

Storylines

Keeping defense solid: BC struggled against Northeastern and Notre Dame, coming away with a 1-1-1 record in those three games. The Eagles need to minimize the mistakes on defense and help Demko out if they want to keep winning games.

Missing Colin White: With BC's leading point scorer away at World Juniors, the Eagles will need other players to create scoring chances. They have enough depth for it, but BC will need the everyone to be focused, and not in a post-holiday daze. It will also be interesting to see how the lines change in White's absence.

The fewer penalties, the better: I think we can all agree that averaging nearly 20 minutes of penalties is kind of excessive.

Don't underestimate Ohio State: When a skilled rival team like Providence is on the horizon, it can be tough to focus on games against less successful teams. This almost always results in sloppy play which can lead to bad losses. BC needs to stay in the present and not worry about who they'll be playing tomorrow night.
