AT BC: Paul Carey played at BC for four seasons, from 2008-2012. Carey showed improvement every season, going from 9 points in his freshman year to 30 points as a senior. Highlights from Carey's time at BC include a two goal game in the first round of the 2012 Beanpot (in which BC beat Northeastern 7-1) and scoring the gamewinner in the 2012 NCAA final against Ferris State. POST-BC: Carey played for three years in the Colorado Avalanche organization (plus 2 games in the 2011-2012 season). He spent most of that time with the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL), but played 12 games for Colorado in 2012-2013 and 10 games for them in 2014-2015. In his first season with the Monsters, Carey finished fourth on the team in points. He scored his first professional goal on October 13, 2012. Carey has yet to see the offensive success of the 41 points he scored that season, but he had a 21 point season in 2013-2014, and a 33 point season in 2014-2015. Carey's first (and thus far, only) NHL point came on February 15, 2015, with an assist in Colorado's win over Arizona.
Carey was traded to Boston in 2014-2015 and played 17 games with Providence, where he played with former BC teammate Tommy Cross.
THIS SEASON: Following the 2014-15 season, Carey became a free agent and signed a two-way deal with the Washington Capitals. Carey has spent this season with the Hershey Bears, where he is tied for first on the team in goals scored. Carey's nine goals in 26 games are more than he scored in the entire 2013-2014 season. Carey scored both of Hershey's goals in their 2-1 victory over Providence in late November - the second was an OT winner. This was his second two goal game of November, as he also scored two goals (and the game winner) in Hershey's November 4th win over Bridgeport. If he continues at the pace he's been going, he could score the most goals of his pro-career this year. In 2012-2013 he scored 19 goals, so he's almost halfway there.
