After a few weeks of wide-open voting, this week was a complete blowout, at least at the top. Things got tight behind the top two though, and we have our first tie for the #3 star. To the ballots:
#1 Star: Alex Carpenter, women's hockey. 16 points, 4 first place votes
At this point, the only thing surprising about the fact that Alex Carpenter scored four goals in a game is that it was the first time she did it. It was in fact the first 4-goal individual output by a BCWH player since 1999. Carpenter is now just behind Brian Gionta on the list of all-time goal scorers at BC, male or female, and will likely break that mark within about 2-3 games.
#2 Star: Haley Skarupa, women's hockey. 7 points
Skarupa's 200th career point came in Thursday's 7-2 win over Syracuse - a day of milestones for the Eagles.
T-#3 Star: Erik Johnson, WBB coach. 3 points (1 first place vote)
T-#3 Star: Don Brown, football defensive coordinator. 3 points (1 first place vote)
We have a tie for third place. Two coaches were honored by voters as the star of the week. Don Brown, for being named assistant coach of the year nationally; and Erik Johnson, whose WBB program continues to show improvement this season. They picked up a pair of easy victories last week.
--Honorable Mentions--
#5 Mariella Fasoula, WBB: 3 points - Fasoula led the team in scoring Sunday vs. UNH
#6 Eli Carter, MBB: 2 points - Carter's output helped BC blow past Maine and break their losing streak
#7 Katie King Crowley, WIH Coach: 2 points - Crowley notched career win #200 on Thursday at Syracuse. Watch out Coach York!
