The offseason is upon us, and National Signing Day is less than two months away. What is going on in the world of BC recruiting?
Aimed For The Walls And Missed
Shortly after BC received a commitment on LB John Lamot, Benny Walls a two star defensive back from Pennsylvania committed to Temple. The 6'0 tall Walls, also held offers from BC, Rutgers and Syracuse. Based on some of the internet chatter I thought he would have made sense with BC, but then again given the depth at CB maybe they decided to look at addressing other needs on the team.
Offers Galore!
There were a ton of offers put out by the Eagles over the past week, both for the Class of 2017 and 2016. Jahsen Wint a 2* Athlete from New York received an offer. He currently is committed to Temple, but a late surge of offers from P5 schools could open up his recruitment. Also Terrell Burgess a 3* CB from California received an offer, he also holds offers from Arizona, Utah and Wisconsin
Big Time Weekend For BC Visits
BC was really busy this weekend hosting a bevy of recruits for visits to the campus. Probably the biggest name was Donald Stewart a 3* WR from Paramus, NJ. He has major offers from a variety of schools including Michigan, Pittsburgh, Stanford and Wake Forest. Anthony Brown, who will be joining the Eagles in January was also on campus, along with Ray Marten a tight end, and KJ Gray a wide receiver from NJ, all of whom are committed to the Eagles. The pictures they put up looked like they were all having a great time.
A New 5th Year?
It is clear that Boston College is going to try and fill some of their gaps with 5th years going into the 2016 season. They already started that with the transfer of punter Satchel Ziffer from Old Dominion. Another name to keep an eye on is Tyler Catalina, an OL from the University of Rhode Island. The 6'6 300+ tackle was named to the ALL CAA team this year with the Rams. He had a home visit from the Eagles coaching staff, and was also visited by Iowa State. Could he be a depth piece moving forward? It'll be worth watching.
