FINAL: #2 Boston College 4, #5 Northeastern 2: Eagles win 3rd period battle to earn the victory
A tepid, cautious first two periods gave way to a wild third as the Boston College women's hockey team passed their toughest test of the season, downing #5 Northeastern 4-2 on Friday night at Kelley Rink.
BC and NU played a 1-1 chess match through 40 minutes before things opened up in the final frame. Meghan Grieves scored a thunderbolt at 10:45 to give BC a long-awaited lead but Northeastern came right back down on the ensuing shift to tie it. Kaliya Johnson broke the deadlock for good with 7:00 remaining and the Eagles added a late empty netter to ice it.
BC is now 15-0-0 on the season while NU falls to 10-2-1. Complete reaction including more coverage and Grant's customary goal by goal highlights to come later tonight/early tomorrow.
