Boston College Football: Get To Know The Dudes - #13, LB Connor Strachan

A legacy, will he crack the two deep this year?

Connor Strachan

BC Eagles Athletics

Name: Connor Strachan
Number: #3
Position: Linebacker
Height:
6-foot-0
Weight:
240 lbs.
Hometown: Needham, MA
High School: St. Sebastian's Country Day

2013 Stats (HS): Ranked the No. 2 prospect in Massachusetts by ESPN .... earned Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association All-State Super 26, Independent School League (ISL) Co-MVP, ISL All-League and ISL All-Scholastic Team honors as a senior ... garnered the 2013 Nike Football Training Camp (NFTC) Linebacker MVP award ... invited to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl ... team captain for St. Sebastian's ... tallied 81 tackles, including 10 for loss, one interception and two forced fumbles as a senior ... also recorded 70 tackles, nine of loss, one pass breakup and one forced fumble as a junior. 2014 Projections: It'll be interesting to see what the Eagles do with Strachan this year. BC is pretty set in terms of starters at linebacker. But if an injury happens they have a bevy of freshman that could step in. At 240 pounds, Strachan would be a rather large linebacker, just a little smaller than Steven Daniels, but at least you know that he would be game ready weight wise. If they don't need him right away, he'll most likely redshirt, but again linebacker has been a position in the past where BC has played true freshmen under previous coaches.

How'd He Get Here: A four star linebacker out of Needham, Strachan was the 192nd ranked recruit in the country and the 1st in Massachusetts according to Rivals (2nd according to ESPN). Connor chose the Eagles over claimed offers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest.

What the Scouts Think: "a physical and athletic prospect capable of seeing early action at the BCS level of play. Could possibly contribute on offense as a fullback and on special teams. Falling under the radar due to lack of ideal length."

Uniform History: 13 has not been an unlucky number for the Eagles. The first player to wear it was Martin Whelan, an end from Boston in 1924. Glenn Foley, a quarterback, who went on to play for the Jets wore the number in the early 90s; Willie Wright wore the number in 1990s as both an offensive lineman and a linebacker. Taylor Sele a wide receiver wore it, along with Codi Boek a backup quarterback in the last 2000's.
