Phil Steele Announces 2014 Preseason All-ACC Team: No Eagles Selected To First Team

The football previewing guru picked 11 FSU players for his first team

Mark L. Baer-US PRESSWIRE

Every year we can count on Phil Steele to come out with a massive tome of knowledge about the upcoming football season. This is like a rite of summer; a sign that college football is around the corner. If you haven't picked up his magazines in the past, consider it, they are a good read. Also this year you can get it on iTunes and read it on your iPad or computer, which is pretty cool.

Today he announced his All FSU ACC Team, which of course included a healthy dosage of the defending national champions. FSU had 11 first team players selected, followed by Duke with four and Clemson with three. Boston College, on the other hand, had zero first team All-ACC selections. The Eagles were further snubbed with only one second (Andy Gallik), third (Steven Daniels) and fourth team selections (Bobby Vardaro).

Last season BC had seven players make the All ACC team, linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis and former punt returner Spiffy Evans made All-ACC first team honors. Alex Amidon and Steele Divitto made the second team, running back Andre Williams the third team and kicker Nate Freese and offensive tackle Matt Patchan the fourth team. Have to give Steele a bit of credit for putting on Williams on the list last year as most publications (Athlon, ESPN, etc.) didn't give him the time of day.

In terms of snubs, I would look mostly to the offensive line. Should they be first teamers? Probably not, but if anything Steve Addazio has shown that he can put together an All ACC line. I was surprised not to see Harris Williams or Ian Silberman on the list. Also given BC's propensity for running the ball it was a little surprising to not see Myles Willis on any of these lists. Perhaps Steele has been reading some of the preseason chatter from Addazio who has claimed he won't be relying on a single back like he did last year with Andre Williams.
