Boston College Football: Get To Know The Dudes - #29, DB Joel Zoungrana

Today, "Get To Know" ...defensive back Joel Zoungrana

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Joel "Karim" Zoungrana

Position: Defensive Back

Number: #29

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6-foot-0

Weight: 200 lbs.

Hometown: Montreal

High School: Champlain-Lennoxville

2013 Stats: Did not appear in any games last season

2014 Projections: Zoungrana was recruited as a wide receiver, and just this off season it appears that his position was changed to defensive back. It's an interesting switch as BC is very thin in it's receiving ranks, and appears to have defensive backs. This is especially interesting because it appeared that he had success at WR in practice and spring games. Not sure if he will see the field this year, or if BC will give him some more time to learn the position. Would expect him to maybe see some playing time on special teams.

How'd He Get Here: A two star recruit, he was recruited as a wide receiver and BC was his lone offer.

Uniform History: The first varsity letter wearer to bear #29 was John Heaphy, a center in 1919. Starting in 2007 cornerback Tajii Morris wore it on his way his way to starting all games his senior season. After that Dominick LeGrande, another DB wore it before transferring to Marshall, and finally walk on James McCaffrey wore it for the Eagles before Zoungrana. I believe Karim changed to this number over the off season from 84.
