Another look at some BC guys who made the next step over the weekend to lead off Monday, May 12

A new week begins. We start it by looking back at the exciting weekend for a number of BC football alums:

Giants draft Andre Williams, nation's leading rusher - AP

The Giants selected Boston College running back Andre Williams and San Diego State safety Nat Berhe on the final day of the NFL draft on Saturday.

Not a surprise. The New York Giants crave depth at running back and love guys who (a) perform at a high level statistically in college and (b) went to Boston College. Williams led the NCAA with 2,177 rushing yards on 355 carries in 2013 and was one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy.

Lions believe kicker Nate Freese will be the guy to fill Jason Hanson's shoes | The Detroit News

Over the past two seasons, Freese made 38 of 40 field goals for the Eagles, including all 20 attempts in 2013. He was a four-year starter for Boston College.

The Green Bay Packers have their No. 4 quarterback - and someone to throw the ball during next weekend's rookie orientation camp: Boston College quarterback Chase Rettig.

The Jets agreed to a deal with former Don Bosco and Boston College player Steele Divitto.

Celtics star Bob Cousy to receive honorary degree from Boston College - Worcester Telegram & Gazette

May 19 should be another emotional day for the former Holy Cross and Celtics star. Boston College, where Cousy coached the men's basketball team for six years after retiring as a Celtic, will present him with an honorary doctor of humane letters degree during the school's graduation ceremony at Alumni Stadium.
