Boston College Football Recruiting: OT Aaron Monteiro Commits To The Eagles

Steve Addazio and crew landed another local recruit this weekend as Brockton OT Aaron Monteiro committed to Boston College. According to the Brockton Enterprise, Monteiro decided that he wanted to choose early:

"The recruiting process is great, but I wanted to make a plan," said Monteiro. "I chose the right school and I just wanted to get it over with."

At 6-foot-6, 308 pounds, Monteiro is a huge body that will fit in great with the Eagles plan to continue to rebuild their offensive line. Boston College lost Matt Patchan and Ian White to graduation and will be losing Ian Silberman, Aaron Kramer and Bobby Vardaro next season. The program will also need to replace Win Homer after he left the team.

Monteiro is not ranked as of yet, but held offers from Iowa and Connecticut.

Some of the quotes from Monteiro and his coach Peter Columbo made to the local papers showed some interesting tidbits on why he chose the Eagles, including location:

"I decided to stay local after talking to my family," said Monteiro. "In a few years when I’m playing, they’ll be able to come to the games."

And Addazio's dedication to building a fence around Massachusetts:

It’s a natural connection," said Colombo. "I know Coach (Steve) Addazio is committed to getting the best players in our area to BC."

Not all news was great this weekend though, as highly touted four-star offensive tackle Steven Gonzalez, who recently traveled to Chestnut Hill, committed to Penn State.
