As National SIgning Day is upon us, we look at the recruits that are now official members of the Eagles. Now up, cornerback Isaac Yiadom
Isaac Yiadom
Hometown: Worcester, MA
High School: Doherty Memorial
Position: Defensive Back
Height: 6-foot-1
40: 4.52
Weight: 170 lbs.
Twitter: Isaacshowtime
Highlights: Hudl
Rankings: Rivals 3* (4 state), Scout 3* (73 position), ESPN 3* (77 rating, 194 position, 3 state), 247Sports 3* (84 rating, 130 position, 5 state). Selected Boston College over Holy Cross, Bryant, and UConn.
Strengths: Isaac is a local recruit, playing in Massachusetts so again he was playing again weaker competition, but what I saw was pretty impressive. He is not going to be a booming corner that is going to make wide receivers shake when they go over the middle. He has good form, and good speed and quickness which will allow him to stick to some of the better wide receivers in the ACC. Also decent size for a cornerback, which should help him with man to man coverage on the outside.
Realistic Outlook: I don't need to beat a dead horse here, but BC's secondary was pretty weak last year. They struggled all over the place, whether that was coaching (the incessant blitzing) or just the level of talent. Whatever the case may be, I can't imagine that anyone in that backfield has a secure job going into 2014, which is great for some of these freshmen. Yiadom is on campus early, practicing with the team in the spring, which may give him a leg up to sneak on to the two deep early. If that is the case, I wouldn't be surprised for Yiadom to be on the field in 2014, possibly as a backup or nickel cornerback.
