The Boston College Eagles (7-6, 4-4 ACC) ended the year with a heartbreaking loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions (7-6, 2-6 Big Ten) in the 2014 installment of the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. Here are the videos to prove it.
The two teams traded touchdowns on big plays in the first half to send the game to 7-7 heading into the locker room. In the third quarter, Tyler Murphy's read-option keeper would put the Eagles up 21-7 late in the third quarter. But Penn State would answer back with three seconds left in the third quarter when Hackenberg found Geno Lewis on a tipped-pass TD to make it 21-14.
With a little over six minutes remaining, Hackenberg finds DaeShawn Hamilton on a 16-yard slant to knot the score at 21. After trading field goals, the game went to OT. Murphy hooked up with Dudeck on 3rd and 8 for the first score of the extra frame, but Knoll would shank the PAT. Penn State's Kyle Carter tied the game at 30 with a 10-yard TD catch from Hackenberg, and Sam Ficken's XP sent Penn State out a winner. 31-30.
After the game, Boston College coach Steve Addazio addressed the media.
Here's what Penn State coach James Franklin had to say about the game following the Nittany Lions' victory.
