Boston College Daily Links: Women's Soccer Thumps Pitt

It's gameday eve.... time to get ready.

Women's Soccer Defeats Pittsburgh, 3-0 (BCEagles.com)
BC spoiled Pitt's first ever home ACC game with a 3-0 win in Pittsburgh on Thursday night. Who else but McKenzie Meehan scored the game-winning goal, notching her 4th GWG of the season just over one minute into the game to give BC a lead they would not relinquish. Stephanie McCaffrey and Hayley Dowd added insurance goals for the Eagles.

BC dominated Pitt (4-2-1) in every way, outshooting them 15-2. They are now 4-2 on the season, with a trip to Clemson forthcoming on Sunday night.

Band, Audio System Clash At Wake Game (The Heights)
Uh oh. Drama:

The Boston College and Wake Forest football teams were not the only ones battling in Alumni Stadium last Friday night. The BC "Screaming Eagles" marching band and the athletic department's audio system were also struggling-over airtime.

FOOTBALL: Leading The Way (The Heights)

"It always starts with the offensive line," Williams said. "They're not going to be in the tabloids all the times, but it really starts with them. Making sure they're on their aiming points, making sure they're being physical, and I'm just the follow-up."

ACC predictions: Week 3 (ESPN ACC Blog)
HD picks ...

BC 14, USC 10: Forget about the disaster that is the Kiffin era. This Boston College team has gotten back to its roots under Addazio. They are a well-coached, fundamentally sound, physical team that can run the ball, and that's a recipe for beating teams they're not expected to. Yes, USC's defense is very good -- hence the low-scoring game -- but there are intangibles at work here. The Eagles are all-in on Addazio's playbook, while the Trojans don't even seem to be on the same page.

Groan.

BC's Bryce Jones just rolls with it (ESPN Boston)

“We’ve got some things we want to tighten up on defense,” Eagles coach Steve Addazio said after the 24-10 win over Wake Forest on Friday night. “So every once in awhile, because we’re so multiple, we have some blown assignments and some guys all of a sudden get behind us deep. So we’re a work in progress with that too, now. “I told you that from day one: When you do what we do, you’re gonna have some guys that are gonna hit you deep sometimes. We’ve had that happen. And we just roll. Just roll with it.”

In return home, Chase Rettig aims to surprise (Boston Herald)

SoCal native Rettig amped to battle USC (ESPN ACC Blog)

"Wake-up was at like 5:45 or something like that and at 5:20 I get a text from Chase, ‘Let's go boys, this is our week. This is when we've really gotta show ourselves,'" White said after practice on Wednesday. "He's really excited for this game. He's always that type of leader, he'll shoot texts and stuff like that. But this was 40 minutes before wake-up at 5 in the morning. "He was ready to go."

Someone please remind me where in the world Chase Rettig is from?

Happy Friday, BC fans. Getting excited for the game? Feeling optimistic?
