Starting on Monday, the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) began unveiling their preseason watch lists. The preseason watch lists for the Maxwell Award (college player of the year), Bednarik Award (defensive player of the year), Mackey Award (best tight end) and Rimington Trophy (best center) have all been unveiled without any Boston College football representation.

That all can change tomorrow ...

On Wednesday, the NCFAA reveals the preseason watch list for the Lou Groza Award, presented annually to the nation's top place-kicker by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. It's the Groza Award that Boston College has a bona fide candidate in rising senior kicker Nate Freese.

In an postseason award category dominated by statistics, Freese was near perfect in 2012. The Strongsville, Ohio native finished the season 18-of-20 in field goal attempts and 24-of-24 on extra points. Freese's two misses occurred in losses to Georgia Tech (1-2) and Wake Forest (0-1).

Last year's eventual winner, Tulane junior Cairo Santos, was a bit better, finishing the year a perfect 21-of-21 on field goals and 26(!)-of-27 on extra points. Santos became just the second Lou Groza Award winner to stay perfect throughout a season in which they attempt 20 or more field goals. However, the Green Wave, like the Eagles, finished the year with a record of 2-10, so unlike other postseason awards like the Maxwell or the Heisman, your team can stink and you can still come away with some individual hardware!

Freese will have some steep competition within his own conference. Clemson's Chandler Catanzaro and Duke's Ross Martin, along with Freese, ranked in the top 10 nationally in field goal percentage in 2012. Regardless, the #Freese4Groza train is leaving the station and you better get on board, because it's likely one of the few preseason watch lists where Boston College will have any representation.

So who's making the #Freese4Groza t-shirts?
