Last week, the Las Vegas Hilton released odds for seven college football conference championship games, installing Florida State as the favorite to win the league this year. Predictably, Boston College didn't fare as well -- going off as a 100/1 long shot to win the league title. Only Wake Forest, #TheRivalry, had the same odds to win the title.
Odds to Win 2013 ACC Championship Game, Dec. 7 @ Charlotte
5-4 Florida St. Seminoles
2-1 Clemson Tigers
6-1 Virginia Tech Hokies
6-1 Miami Hurricanes
10-1 North Carolina Tar Heels
18-1 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
40-1 Pittsburgh Panthers
50-1 Maryland Terrapins
50-1 N.C. State Wolfpack
50-1 Virginia Cavaliers
60-1 Duke Blue Devils
60-1 Syracuse Orange
100-1 Boston College Eagles
100-1 Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Can't say I'm too surprised that Boston College goes off as the longest of long shots to win the title coming off a 2-10 season, but some of these lines are laughable. Pitt at 40-1? Duke and Syracuse at 60-1? OK.
The Las Vegas Hilton also listed early lines on a number of college football games including BC's Friday night home game against Wake Forest. The Eagles are an early 1-point favorite, suggesting that the Deacons would be slightly favored on a neutral field. This sounds about right. BC should get a bit of a boost in the first big home game of the season, on Friday night, on national TV. The early Boston College-Wake Forest game should be a strong bellwether to how the rest of the season is going to go.
